What title or series are you best known for?

“I don’t actually think I am known for any book or series; but I love when dark horror overlaps with LGBTQIA+ stories, and I’ve loved narrating Alison Rumfitt’s TELL ME I’M WORTHLESS and BRAINWYRMS — not an actual series, but both are incredibly dark horrors starring Trans characters.”

What do you always have in the booth?

“Lukewarm herbal tea, lip balm, protein bars, moisturizer, tissues and tea tree essential oil. Basically all the stuff I have on hand when I get a cold, come to think of it!”

How did you come to performing audiobooks?

“I have very niche casting on-camera, and I wanted to diversify my acting career to include more mediums where my performance could transcend what I look like. I’d thought that my voice was also too unconventional to find work in audio, but I am so grateful I was wrong! A friend recommended I try audiobooks during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, when so much on-camera work was shut down. I fell utterly in love with audiobooks — so much so I was a bit flabbergasted I’d not gotten into them earlier. If there is anything I have learned, it is to ignore your self-limiting beliefs and instead take serious note when people see your potential in something, even if you don’t see it.”

Anything else you’d like a listener to know?

“When I first got into audiobooks, I was still worried I sounded too atypical to build a career in audiobooks. I’m Trans and have an androgynous sounding voice. But my coach, Elise Arsenault, encouraged me to tell the industry what I have to offer as an artist, not just as a voice. I came up with what has become my personal slogan, that “My non-binary Trans voice isn’t so much a Sound as it is… a Perspective.””
