What do you always have in the booth?

Water. iPad. Nothing more, nothing less. No distractions. And I stand whenever the studio is set up for that because it gives me more freedom in my body!

How did you come to performing audiobooks?

I’m a trained actor, but fresh out of drama school I decided to write a novel. It was bought and made me connections in publishing where they were looking for a voice for a book trailer. I voiced the trailer and went on to record the audiobook. That was for Macmillan in 2011 and I’ve been working consistently ever since.

Anything else you’d like a listener to know?

I believe in fully immersive audiobook performances. I prepare and commit fully to the scene and the characters. For that reason, I don’t highly prize volume of books or mistake-free reads. It’s the emotional, human component that makes our interpretations of a book worth listening to.
