How did you come to performing audiobooks?

“I was found by a Macmillan Audio producer from a website that listed my resume and contact information, and was emailed a request to audition. I was a theater and on-camera actor that had never narrated audiobooks. However, the producer was looking for a specific narrator to authentically tell this particular story, and so I auditioned and was selected by the author to narrate his debut YA novel and perform my first audiobook.”

Anything else you’d like a listener to know?

“I believe that no matter the fact that I was Assigned Female At Birth and transitioned medically, taking Hormone Replacement Therapy (Testosterone) to masculinize my features, then socially transitioning, changing my name and pronouns, arriving to a destination where I feel profoundly prideful to be Trans Masculine & Non-binary, I should still be treated equally, treated like a human being, and not villainized or dehumanized.

When it comes to my professional acting career, I adore telling the stories that align with my personal identities and experiences, since these are stories that I never had growing up. However, I believe casting directors and producers need to expand their imagination and take a risk — to either keep producing LGBTQIA+ stories, making it more balanced with the majority of what is being produced, or even cultural stories, like Latiné stories. Or just giving me, or people like me, an opportunity and a chance to exist beyond our identities and to act or perform in any kind of role.”
