What do you always have in the booth?

Herbal tea, ginger lozenges, layers of clothing for putting on when it gets cold in the booth, or more often, for taking off when it gets too hot. And a footstool, because I am very short and sometimes my feet don’t reach the floor!

How did you come to performing audiobooks?

Technically, the first book I did was a book I wrote! Then I reprised a character I had played in a fiction podcast called Welcome to Night Vale for a book called The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives in Your Home. But then I was asked if I would do a book called One For All by an author who had the same chronic illness I had, and wanted a narrator who would understand that. That’s where I met my mentor, Amy Rubinate, who asked if I wanted to do more narration. I gave an enthusiastic yes, and spent the next year doing everything I could to get more books and become part of the community. That was late 2021 and it’s been a joy ever since!

Anything else you’d like a listener to know?

Two things have been true about me for as long as I can remember: I have always loved books and stories, and I’ve always been a chatterbox. Now I joke with my friends that being a narrator is the perfect job for me, because “It combines my two greatest loves: reading and talking!” Of course, there’s a lot more to it than that, but that’s putting it a way my younger self would understand, and it would be a dream come true for her to know that she could do that as a job!
