How did you come to performing audiobooks?

Evelyn’s broad career spans visual and performing arts, marketing, nonprofit management, and of course, professional storytelling. Raised by artistic, intellectual parents who fostered her love of art, music, history, science, and literature, she has a deep love of learning. She moved around a lot growing up, learning to find unexpected humor in the most serious of situations. She has strong instincts, natural skills of interpretation, and sharp insights into the most demanding of characters, whether wench or wisewoman. Her insatiable curiosity informs fiction and nonfiction projects in such genres as scifi, fantasy, contemporary fiction, business, history, memoir, and spirituality. She is a world traveler, reveres the power of the human voice, and loves language. She aspires to create space for the experience of ideas and emotions brought to life through a well-crafted story, done so with depth and sensitivity about what it means to be human.

Anything else you’d like a listener to know?

Most people, when they ask where I grew up get the “list,” and assume I am a military brat. I am actually from an academic family, with both parents having advanced degrees. Dad had a PhD in Classics and Mom a Master’s in Music. As my father’s career developed, we moved around a lot. I think my background growing up, my travel experience, my affinity for the arts and languages, and my intellectual ability are the main things I offer as a performer. Every theatrical experience I’ve had has shaped me. The places I’ve visited opened my mind and widened the scope of my understanding. I am a life-long learner and I adore being around smart, curious, interesting people as a result. I have very eccentric tastes ranging from Mozart and Beethoven to Monty Python. And I love a good dry martini – dirty, of course.
