Do three ‘firsts’ count? The first book I ever performed was under a pseudonym, and was a delightful and short vampire erotica (which is no longer available, sadly)! I was hooked on the craft at first bite. The first book I performed under my own name was a Goosebumps book as a volunteer for Learning Ally, Invasion of the Body Squeezers! And my first professionally released audiobook was a wonderful memoir called Small Town Skateparks by Clint Carrick, which details the authors adventures across the US with his skateboard.

My recording booth is mostly bare, but I will usually bring a memento in to ground me for each book. I.e., I have a fantasy inspired long sword I’ll prop in the corner when working on sword and sorcery books.
After earning my degree in Audio Production, a years long search for my home industry ensued. It wasn’t until a 6-month road trip in my pea green VW bus with my then girlfriend, now wife, where many hours of audiobooks were consumed that I connected the dots. Turns out my long love of literature could be conjoined with my adoration of audio production! When I started, I had no clue how important my background in theater and dance performance would be, and thanks to time with wonderful coaches I translated those skills into captivating vocal performance.
