How did you come to performing audiobooks?

I stumbled into audiobooks by chance. I was a member of an African American theater company in Los Angeles when a publisher looking for an African American actress to narrate a slavery-era historical fiction novel found our theater company's website. The audition invitation was extended to the women in the company, and so I reached out to audition. They first had me read pages from a sci-fi novel, then the historical fiction. I ended up booking both projects—the sci-fi first. That unexpected audition launched a career I never imagined—and I've been bringing stories to life ever since.
