How did you come to performing audiobooks?

As a life-long, Capital R Reader, and after years of listening to Books on (actual) Tape throughout my opera, film, and commercial/digital media careers, when seeking out a mid-life chapter pivot, it occurred to me that audiobooks weren't just a way to consume literature on-the-go, narration could be a *job* for which I felt uniquely qualified given my 30+ years in various performance and production endeavors. My seven-year-old-self would not BELIEVE I get paid to read books, out loud, for a living. I'm the luckiest duck.
