How did you come to performing audiobooks?

Spent much of my life acting on stage and doing commercial VOs. Years ago, I used to read books to my wife quite often and had also gifted a sight impaired friend with a cassette(!) of short stories I recorded. About 10 years ago, a friend suggested I try my hand at audiobooks professionally and, after some months of getting myself set up, I took a shot, got VERY lucky and landed my first project in 24 hours. It happened to become a popular independent series and ended up giving me a career. I consider myself truly fortunate to do what I do.

Anything else you’d like a listener to know?

Enjoying what you do for a living is as close to heaven as it gets. I've always loved reading and I simply LOVE reading books for people to listen to. I did it before I got paid for it and now that I am paid I can't get over my luck. What I'm always looking for is engagement with listeners. If I can entice the audience to "lean in", I feel successful.
