What do you always have in the booth?

Water, peppermint oil, eye drops, Emily the Booth Cat, and The Black Knight from Monty Python and The Holy Grail (because he always triumphs!)

How did you come to performing audiobooks?

After a fun decade in professional theater, I turned to voiceover as a steadier (and more family-schedule-friendly) career. It didn’t take long to discover that commercials and corporate industrials are great and all, but they don’t often require lots of creativity. Audiobooks became the way to feed my theater-kid soul. Now I’m thrilled that they are the majority of my work!

Anything else you’d like a listener to know?

My favorite moments in audiobooks are when the narrator takes you by surprise: an unexpected line reading, a change in tone that underscores the moment perfectly, a character voice so perfect that it cannot possibly have been anything else… those moments when you remember someone human is telling you this story. Let’s hear it for human narrators!
