How did you come to performing audiobooks?

I’ve always been an avid audiobook listener…going back to the cassette days! When I lost my corporate job 4 years ago, my first venture into VO was auditioning on ACX. I remember my hubby and I giggling over my menacing character voices for one of my very early auditions – but that was how I landed the Jo Gunning Thriller series, where I’ve narrated 10 books since (and book 11 in the works)! At this point, Jo Gunning feels like an old friend!

Anything else you’d like a listener to know?

I was a theater kid who dreamed of being an actress, but as an adult, I was too frightened to pursue such an unstable career, so I took the more responsible route, spending decades in HR Management. Losing my job was devastating but ultimately a blessing as it forced me to pursue my dream. I’m ecstatic to finally be working and actually earning money by performing! I love the challenge of audiobook narration – where else would I have the opportunity to embody such a diverse group of characters! You CAN start over in your 50s!
