How did you come to performing audiobooks?

From the minute I started to read I always read aloud and I loved books! I remember reading articles from the newspaper to members of my family when I was very young and I thought I wanted to be a newsreader! I took elocution lessons from age 9 – 21 in verse and prose, and acting. By the time I stopped I had performed hundreds of pieces of sight reading prose and poetry; it was the best training to be an audiobook narrator! After my degree in Drama and English Literature in London I pursued a career in theatre. My audiobook career didn’t start until I moved to Vermont with my family, where we moved to a house in the woods. It was quiet and had space for a booth and I thought it was time to live my childhood dream of reading aloud all day! I’ve loved every minute since!

Anything else you’d like a listener to know?

Being an audiobook narrator has changed my life in many ways. It’s allowed me to be the creative I always dreamed of being and if possible, has increased my love of the written word. I have always been an avid reader and I still am, but now the genres I read or listen to have become significantly broader as I strive to support authors and narrators I know, by listening to their work. More important to me than the work is the amazing audiobook community. We support each other and cherish our friendships. It’s a wonderful community to be a part of and I’m very grateful.
