Hi, it’s Art Brown. My lovely friends at AudiobookRush have asked me to talk about an audiobook that I would recommend, and I gave this a bit of thought. And there are so many wonderful narrators, many of whom I have the privilege to call friend, some of whom I have yet to meet, whose work I could recommend, whose work I listen to and have learned from and am inspired by. But one audiobook that stands out for me, because it’s the audiobook that I would say inspired me to think not only can I do this, but this is something I want to do, is Tom Sawyer by Nick Offerman. I listened to this first a couple of years ago, and there’s just so much to love there. First of all, I’m a huge fan of Mark Twain, and second of all, I’m a huge fan of Nick Offerman. I think he does brilliant work, but it seems to me that he captures Twain’s voice as an observer, somewhat tongue in cheek, sardonic, brilliant, folksy, and he captures all the wonderful characters in that story without going over the top, but giving them life. And it’s just a template for a brilliantly narrated audiobook. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Nick Offerman. Happy listening.
