What was the first audiobook you performed?

It was forty years ago 😳

What title or series are you best known for?

The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson

If a listener wanted to get to know your work, which of your audiobooks would you point them to?

Lady Sherlock series by Sherry Thomas
Lives of the Mayfair Witches by Anne Rice
The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson
Sins for All Seasons series by Lorraine Heath
Middlemarch by George Eliot

What do you always have in the booth?

A toy hedgehog (MΓΌcki) that I’ve had since I was a small child. Battered and shabby, yet still sincerely earnest. He is very encouraging.

How did you come to performing audiobooks?

I started at the Talking Books program at the Library of Congress, while working in theatre in the DC area in the 1980s. Thanks to Grover Gardner, for setting me on this path! Blackstone and Books on Tape were the first publishers to hire me, as a home studio narrator. My husband Michael Kramer and I were hired to narrate The Wheel of Time, which gave rise to many joint fantasy narrations, notably Brandon Sanderson’s work.

Anything else you’d like a listener to know?

I love most genres of books – classics, mystery, romance, biography, fantasy – and enjoy the invitation to embody different characters, and voice an author’s thoughts. It’s all about serving the story.
